Beige background with olive tree branches containing both purple olives and oranges growing, surrounded by leaves. Title text on top in black reads: "Sticking Together in Hard Times". Followed by large text that runs through poster and reads: "Cancelled due to increased risks and safety concerns with the border". Orange circle in right hand corner with black text reads: "Dean Spade will participate virtually in a separate IRL event on March 30 at 1 pm at 312 Main.

The workshop “Sticking Together in Hard Times: Dean Spade on Mutual Aid for Survival and Mobilization” is unfortunately cancelled. Due to increased risks and safety concerns with the border, Dean can’t travel at this time. 🧡

Many of us were looking forward to Dean’s irl event, and we understand the risks involved at a time of heightened attacks. While Dean can’t join us, we know we will all continue to come together in many ways to build cultures of resistance and rebellion, strengthen mutual aid networks, and organize against state repression & policing & borders. ✊

Dean will still be appearing online for his book launch event on Sunday March 30 at 312 Main Street at 1 pm organized by UBC Centre for Engaged Learning and SFU Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies (GSWS), Click here for the registration link. Dean also has a bunch of online speaking events, available through his website.

We encourage anyone who was going to attend to still consider mutual aid and redistribute $ to Distro Disco and Vancouver Black Therapy Fund, and other efforts. 👥

Wishing everyone a blessed Eid Mubarak ☪️ Towards liberation.
