We are delighted to have artist, author and activist Gord Hill (Kwakwaka’wakw Nation) join us at Vines Den for an evening on resistance of the past and parallels to the present and future. Through his work, Gord creates visual archives of resistance and the continuum of Indigenous land defence against colonial and fascist projects. As the Carney government approves pipeline after pipeline, data centres, and fast-tracks anti-migrant and mega surveillance bills, we invite you to join us to dive into movement memory to ground us in our ongoing struggle.
Gord Hill is author and artist of the acclaimed graphic novels The 500 Years of Resistance Comic Book, The Anti-Capitalist Resistance Comic Book: From the WTO to the G20, and The Antifa Comic Book. He is also the writer and illustrator of dozens of movement publications, such as Warrior Publications, and has been involved in Indigenous peoples and anti-capitalist movements since 1990.
Marking the international Oct 22 Day to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation, we hope this evening inspires you to join local organizing against fascist and capitalist government and act in solidarity with Indigenous land defenders from Gitsxan to Grassy Narrows.
Hosted by Weaving Our Worlds.
