We are incredibly humbled to learn from T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss during a guided plant walk around East Van. Together, we will learn about the traditional uses, cultural significance, and stories of Indigenous plantlife on these unceded Coast Salish lands.

This walk is open only to Indigenous, Black, and racialized refugee & migrant peoples, with priority for BIPOC queer and/or trans Elders and youth.

Please note filling out the form is not a confirmation. If we have a lot of people interested, we will be prioritizing QTBIPOC Elders and youth, and all Indigenous peoples. About T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss (Skwxwu7mesh, Sto:lo, Hawaiian, Swiss): an educator, interdisciplinary artist and Indigenous ethnobotanist engaged in community-based teaching and sharing. Throughout Wyss’s 30-year practice, Wyss’s work encompasses storytelling and collaborative initiatives through their knowledge and restoration of Indigenous plants and natural spaces. Wyss has been recognised for their traditional knowledge in remediating our relationship to land. Wyss has participated and exhibited at galleries, museums, festivals and public space such as Vancouver Art Gallery, Morris, Helen Belkin Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery, PuSh Festival, National Library of Canada, Special Collections at the Walter Phillips Gallery, and Vancouver Public Library.

🍉 Event starts with a light meal at 5:30 pm. Please bring a container if you want to take food away.
📦 Free event, donations will cover future WoW event costs.
♿ Venue for gathering and dinner has an accessible entrance at street level, which gives access to hall, washrooms, and kitchen. The washroom door opening is 86 cm, and the stall door is 61 cm. The walk will be approximately one hour, mostly on sidewalks with frequent stops.
😷 The walk is outdoors, we highly encourage people to mask to ensure that the day is accessible to immunocompromised comrades and protects all of us from Covid-19 transmission. Masks will be available onsite.
🚫We never collaborate with any policing agency. This includes never allowing entry to cops, cbsa etc, nor ever providing information or immigration status of people.
